Our church meets as a corporate body to worship our God at 10:00am on Sunday Mornings. Here is what you can expect should you come visit us:
Profile: We have a wide range of age groups in our church family. Our Sunday morning attendance is between 250 and 300 people. Dress trends toward business-casual, though you can find anything from khakis to gray suits, jeans to dresses. Our people are very friendly, but feel free to introduce yourself.
Beginning: On Sunday morning at 9:55am, we come together to worship for about twenty minutes to express our Love for God in song, praise, prayer, and giving. Some brief announcements regarding church life will also be highlighted during this time.
Music: We strive for our music to be a blend of old and new. We love the doctrinally rich hymns of the sixteenth century and we find blessing in the choruses of the twenty-first. Most of us who are comfortable with one particular style have discovered, while at Grace, that we have come to enjoy other genres of music we had not previously encountered. You will need to attend a few Sundays in a row to truly appreciate the wide range of music that we use in worship.
Sermons: Preaching at GBC is expositional, meaning that it seeks to expose us to the point of a particular Biblical passage. Sermons usually last between 35-45 minutes and are packed with material for reflection. There is nothing trite or superficial about our time in God's word. Our pastor is not there to entertain. He is not there to give motivational speeches. He is not there to give his own clever ideas and opinions. He simply explains what the Bible says and encourages us to live it out. We gather to hear God speak. It is what motivates us, encourages us, and at times, rebukes us.
Post Sermon: After our sermon, our pastor usually closes in a word of prayer. A typical service is finished by 11:00am. We provide light refreshments in our foyer immediately after the service to encourage fellowship. Our body is then dismissed and greatly encouraged to attend the fellowship/discussion groups where the sermon will be discussed and applied with people who are in similar stages of life. There is a prayer room available to those who have special spiritual needs which they wish to pray about or speak to a counselor.
