At Grace Bible Church our desire is to make an impact for Christ in our community and around the world. Throughout Scripture we read of God's love for the world. This theme is interwoven throughout the pages of Scripture, and is clearly seen between God's promise to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3 to the multitudes that are worshipping God in the book of Revelation. God's blessings have been pouring over His people for centuries and we must respond appropriately to His love. We have been tremendously blessed by God's outpouring of love for us and our response must be to be a blessing to others.
John Piper in his book, "Let The Nations Be Glad", writes, "Missions exists because worship does not." The goal of missions is to help mankind get in a right relationship with their Creator so that they can be bowing before the King of kings in pure, honest, passionate worship. Missions will continue to be needed until the entire world is worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ.
Mission activity is the particular work of crossing cultural barriers to embody and announce the love of God as seen in Jesus Christ. The fundamental reality is that these common activities define the very identity and meaning of the church as a reflection of the Trinitarian character of God. Missions cannot simply be another program in the life of the church, competing for limited financial resources. Rather missions is the reason for which all other ministries exist.
At Grace, the Mission's Team seeks to honor and obey God in fulfilling His purposes in the world with prayer, developing strategic partnerships, involving people in short term trips, and the provision of resources. Our desire is to mobilize our congregation to be involved in God's global plan. As Christians, and as a church, we are all "called" to missions. As followers of Jesus we are all called to be involved.
